சூத்திரன் என்றால் வேசி மகனா

 நான் எனது சிறு வயது முதல் முகநூலில் உலவ ஆரம்பித்த காலம்வரை சூத்திரன் என்ற வார்த்தையையே கேள்விப்பட்டதில்லை என்றே கூறலாம். ஆனால் முகநூலிற்கு வந்தபின் ஒரு சமயம் ஒரு திக கழகத்தை சேர்ந்த நாத்திகரிடம் விவாதிக்க நேரிட்டபோது அவர் என்னை சூத்திரன் என்றார். அப்போது தான் அவ்வார்த்தையையே கேள்விப்பட்டேன். அதற்கு முன்பு அந்த வார்த்தையை கேள்விப்பட்டதில்லை என்பதே நிதர்சனம்....! ஆனால் அன்றிலிருந்து இன்றுவரை எந்தவொரு பிராமணரும் என்னை சூத்திரன் என்று அழைத்ததில்லை. இத்தனைக்கும் எனக்கு எண்ணிலடங்கா பிராமண நண்பர்கள் உண்டு. அவர்கள் வாழ்வில் அந்த வாரத்தையை பயன்படுத்துகிறார்களா? என்பதே மிகப்பெரிய கேள்விக்குறிதான். ஆனால் இந்த  நாத்திகர்கள் போர்வையில் இருக்கும் மாற்று மதத்தவர்கள் #சூத்திரன் சூத்திரன் என்று கத்திக் கத்தி தமிழர்கள் அனைவருக்கும் சூத்திரன் என்ற பட்டத்தை சூட்டுவதோடு அதற்கு வேசிமகன் என்றொரு பொருளையும் தருகின்றனர்....! ஆனால் சூத்திரன் என்ற செல்லை  என்னென்ன பொருள்களில் நம் முன்னோர்கள் பயன்படுத்தியுள்ளனர் என்று தேடினால் சூடாமணி, பிங்கலம் போன்ற நிகண்டுகளில் பல பொருள்கள் உள்ளது. உதாரணமாக, #சூட...
